Choosing My Path for the Industry Analysis Team Report

After the fourth meeting for our ITCC 112 (Advanced Technology and Project Management) subject, which I unfortunately missed due to personal reasons, our class discussions carried on in our Facebook group chat. One of my classmates initiated the selection of a team leader, inviting volunteers, while another conducted a poll survey for our preferred knowledge areas for the Industry Analysis Team Report. This collaborative spirit was reassuring, as it ensured no one was left behind despite my absence.

The knowledge area I chose was Project Procurement Management, a natural fit given my current work at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). In my role under the Finance and Administrative Division, I serve as a member of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Secretariat. My functions include assisting in procurement planning, preparing bid documents, publishing procurement notices, facilitating bid openings, and ensuring proper documentation throughout the procurement process. This expertise positions me well to contribute valuable insights to the team and streamline procurement processes in our chosen industry.

Shortly after, one of our classmates suggested Holy Cross Mintal, Inc. as a potential subject for the Industry Analysis. As an educational institution located in Mintal, Davao City, it sparked interest within the group, especially since two of my classmates are employed there. They vouched for its suitability as a case study, highlighting potential areas for improvement in its operations. While some classmates proposed other organizations, Holy Cross Mintal, Inc. emerged as a strong contender, and the discussions eventually led to the formation of three groups. I was invited to join the team focusing on Holy Cross Mintal, Inc, which felt like the perfect opportunity to apply my expertise.

Although initial plans included visiting the school on a Saturday, no definite schedule was set. Our priority was to draft a formal letter addressed to the school head, seeking permission for the analysis, and identifying the specific department we would target. The HR Department was a likely choice, given its central role in employee development. We also began brainstorming potential interview questions and strategies, recognizing the importance of thorough preparation. A face-to-face or online meeting was proposed to finalize our plans and align our strategies.

As I reflect on this process, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Joining the Holy Cross Mintal team provides a platform to apply theoretical knowledge to a real-world scenario, enhance my skills, and make meaningful contributions to the institution. With the right planning and collaboration, I am confident that our group will deliver a comprehensive and impactful Industry Analysis Team Report.
